TITLE
Prediction of Necking Initiation during the Bending of Metal-rubber Profiles by FEM Simulations of the Forming Process

ABSTRACT
The forming process of a glass-run channel has been simulated by FEM in order to predict the failure risk by localised necking during the final stage of bending. The calculation uses standard constitutive laws, but the real geometry of the piece and of the tools have been taken into account, together with a realistic description of the kinematical boundary conditions. The calculation gives complex strain-paths. A Marciniak-Kuczynski analysis, validated on FLD, permits using FEM results to localize the critical zone during bending, but gives earlier predictions compared with experiment.
