Lattice Misorientations in Titanium Alloys Modeling the Origins of Defects
Finite element simulations of compression deformations of titanium alloys having a lamellar (colony) structure are used to investigate the consequence of heterogeneous straining an lattice misorientations. Two issues are examined: the origins of defects (voids) relative to disorder of lattice and the mechanisms of dynamic globularization, especially as they relate to flow softening.
