TITLE
Application of Extended Bernoulli's Theorem to Prediction of Central Bursting Defects in Extrusion and Drawing

ABSTRACT
Using extended Bernoulli's theorem together with an upper bound solution, an approach for the prediction of central bursting in axisymmetric extrusion and drawing is proposed. The theorem provides a differential equation for the hydrostatic stress which is valid along the axis of symmetry in the exact solution, and the upper bound solution is adopted to find the coefficients of this equation. In addition to the formal requirements of the upper bound theorem, the kinematically admissible velocity field chosen satisfies the asymptotic behaviour of real velocity field in the vicinity of friction surface and axis of symmetry. For the prediction of fracture initiation, a fracture criterion based of workability diagram is used. A safe region in a space of process parameters is determined.
